ProposalCraft
Features

The whole desk, described honestly

Each feature below explains what it is, where it earns its keep, and which plan carries it. If the demo can't do it, this page doesn't claim it.

How ProposalCraft works

A document moves through four stations

Template in, line items live, preview retypeset, approval recorded. The same spine for proposals, invoices, quotes, and SOWs.

  1. 01

    Choose the type

Proposal, invoice, quote, or statement of work — the template opens with starter items and house notes.

  2. 02

    Make it yours

Title, client block, items, discount, tax, notes. Every edit lands on the sheet and the trail.

  3. 03

    Proof the preview

The paper preview retypesets as you type; the math is validated before anything sends.

  4. 04

    Send & export

Approval requested and recorded; CSV and JSON exports leave with the document intact.

The whole desk

Four document types, one engine

Proposals, invoices, fixed quotes, and statements of work share one editor, one preview, and one approval trail. Each type opens from a typed template — starter line items, house notes, the right validity window — so a document begins as a document, not a blank page.

Practical use case
A consultancy quotes a discovery sprint on Tuesday, converts the win into a statement of work on Friday, and invoices the same engine monthly — three document shapes, one recorded system.
Benefit
One place to learn, one place to audit. Nothing about how a document reads is left to whichever file template was copied last.
Subscription tier
All plans include all four document types.

The math is the product

Line items with live totals

Items are rows — description, quantity, rate — with the line total computed as you type. Subtotal, percentage discount, tax, and grand total stack in order and recount on every keystroke. Rows can be added, edited, reordered, or removed without leaving the keyboard.

Practical use case
A studio grades a proposal by phase, offers a 5% partner discount, adds tax, and watches the grand total settle before the client ever sees a number.
Benefit
No spreadsheet round-trip, no copy-paste errors — the number on the sheet is the number in the math, always.
Subscription tier
Available on every plan; custom number formats arrive with Byline.

Proof before the press

A preview that retypesets live

The editor keeps a paper preview beside your fields — masthead, kicker, client block, hairline item table, ruled totals, notes. It re-typesets as you type, in the document's accent, exactly the way a client will read it.

Practical use case
Before an approval request goes out, the writer proofs the real sheet — not an approximation of it.
Benefit
What you approve is what they read. The preview kills the last-minute 'wait, which version did they get?' scramble.
Subscription tier
Included on all plans.

The trail is the record

Send for approval, keep the verdict

Sending a document requests a decision from the client contact. The send is recorded, status changes to awaiting, and the decision — approved or declined, with a note — is logged on the document and in the Approvals page. Nothing about the decision is inferred; it is recorded.

Practical use case
A partner wants to know what was agreed with Northgate in October. The trail shows the send, the approval, and the note — with timestamps, line by line.
Benefit
Every yes and no becomes an entry you can defend, with the document it belongs to kept intact.
Subscription tier
Recorded trail on all plans; a client-facing decision portal arrives with Byline. Demo note: decisions are simulated on your screen and labeled as such.
Live example in this page — approvals
The approvals trail

One document, one record — this is what a send and a decision write:

  1. 09:12 — sent

    Sent for approval

Decision requested from Harriet Silva (harriet@lantern.example)

  2. 10:47 — decision

    Client approved the document

    “Good to go. Invoice accordingly.”

Illustrative record — the real trail is written by the demo, in your browser.

Your records, in your formats

Exports that survive the demo

Every document exports as a CSV of its line items or a JSON file of the full record — including the approval trail. The whole workspace exports as one JSON file, and the Approvals page exports a summary CSV of every document's status and value.

Practical use case
Month-end: an assistant exports the approvals summary CSV for the ledger and files each JSON record with the engagement.
Benefit
The record leaves the demo exactly as it lived in it — nothing trapped in a database you can't touch.
Subscription tier
CSV on every plan; workspace JSON on all plans; white-label report styling with Masthead.

Set the desk once

House defaults that stick

Workspace name, default tax, the validity window for quotes, whether house notes print on new sheets — all set once in Settings and applied to every new document, while the masthead from your workspace names every sheet.

Practical use case
A firm standardizes: 0% tax for net quotes, 14-day validity, notes always on. New documents arrive correct by default.
Benefit
New documents start consistent; the editor only ever touches what's genuinely specific to the deal.
Subscription tier
Included on all plans.
